We’ve compiled the best tech tools to get you going on your 2018 goals.

Eating healthier

One perennial top resolution is eating healthier. Whether you plan on starting a specific diet this year (e.g., paleo or vegetarian), or you just want to be healthier overall in the kitchen, here are some apps that can help.

Nutrition Tracking: Apps, such as Fooducate and Lifesum, act as food diaries allowing you to receive food scores based on the nutrition of the foods you eat. Each provides you with a budget and can help you meet your fitness and dieting goals. Typically, our resolutions about eating healthier and working out more go hand-in-hand. In fact, the most common resolution Americans make each year is to lose weight. The great thing is that you no longer have to serve as your own source of motivation. Multiple apps and websites can help you start (and end) the year off on a healthier foot.

Livestrong.com’s Myplate calorie tracker is another food diary option, and it also helps you track how many calories you burn with each workout. Through the site, you can get community support and expert workouts as well.  

MapMyRun.com is a classic site for runners who want to know the exact distance and dimensions of their routes. You can use it while training for races, such as 5 or 10ks, by planning out exciting runs of the race length in your neighborhood. On the site, you can also search for runs logged in your area to find more scenic routes and share them with your friends.

Saving more money

Getting out of debt and saving more money is one of the top New Year’s resolutions each year, and now there are some great apps that can help!

Mint:  If you’re looking for an all-around budget maker that can help you track your spending, budget your money, pay your bills, and track your financial health and credit, look no farther than Mint. This program, which is available in both a website and an app, can help provide you with a comprehensive view of your money, and help keep you on track in the year ahead.

Penny:  Those looking for a more personal approach to finance should try Penny. Penny is a personal finance robot that will chat with you about your finances. This app speaks in plain English about your spending habits and identifies where you could save money.

Pennies:  If you like to make individual budgets for each life event, you can use the Pennies app to keep track of your spending. Pennies keeps track of all of your budget (from your just-for-fun money to your food money) and lets you know how much you can spend today to keep from overspending tomorrow.

Investment apps:  Many people simply forget to set aside money, even if they have money they can save. Apps like Digit and Acorns take the thought out of it. Both apps analyze your spending habits and determine a small amount you should set aside each day to place in your savings account. Acorns, however, automatically invests that spare change, so you can see your virtual nickels and dimes grow over time.
