The more connected devices you have, the more plan data you will consume, including background downloads like app and system updates. Hughesnet is not recommended as a full-time video streaming replacement for TV service, some types of gaming activity, or for use with tunnel-based VPNs. Online games where you take turns work well with all Hughesnet plans. However, we do not recommend connecting console-based video games. Real-time multiplayer games that require rapid response, such as first-person shooter or combat games are not recommended. Working from home using web-based cloud applications such as SalesForce, Microsoft Office365, or Google Docs work well over all Hughesnet plans. However, tunnel-based VPNs, where you sign into a VPN application to access your work network directly, will reduce speeds by as much as 50-70%. Disconnecting from the VPN will return speeds to normal. Equipment Lease or Purchase fees extra.
