Exploring the Great Outdoors, a Favorite Hobby of HughesNet Customers

No

The warm weather and long summer days are perfect for camping, fishing, and hiking—outdoor activities that HughesNet customers enjoy. In fact, in a recent survey of HughesNet users, 45% of respondents said that camping, fishing and hiking are their favorite hobbies.

This summer, rather than staying local, outdoor enthusiasts are taking advantage of the season and embarking on road trips to explore the wonders Mother Nature has to offer. AAA expects more than 43 million Americans to hit the road.

If you’re among those planning an outdoor adventure across the U.S., here are some tips for an easy and stress-less road trip:

  • Love the Outdoors? Try an RV! A more comfortable alternative to camping, RV purchases have skyrocketed since 2020, and #vanlife has become a lifestyle many avid outdoors-people embrace wholeheartedly. Purchasing an RV can be a commitment, though; consider renting one first for a test run before making a final decision. RV rental sites like RVshare and Outdoorsy are great for a quick weekend getaway. For those looking to use their RV more regularly, buying one may be the better option.
  • Connecting to the Internet: Most campgrounds and national and state parks today include public Wi-Fi. Hughes and its partners deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity to numerous sites across the country, including Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. Apps like AllStays Camp & RV and Camp Finder can help you locate campgrounds and RV parks with public Wi-Fi access.
  • Mapping out the perfect trip: To avoid getting stranded or any other road trip mishaps, it is best to plan extensively beforehand. Roadtrippers should clearly map out stops for rest and food in addition to the sites they want to visit. Roadside America is a fun website and app that helps travelers find offbeat tourist attractions across the country. For hikers, apps like AllTrails can help you decide which trail is best based on length and difficulty.

Outdoor activities were the number-one hobby among HughesNet customers who answered our survey, and 61% of them said they pursue hobbies like camping, fishing, hiking and boating for stress relief. As HughesNet customers join millions of Americans in embracing the opportunity to explore their favorite outdoor activities, the tips above can help reduce the stress of road trips—leaving plenty of room for fun and relaxation.
